about

where earth meets sky

Where Earth Meets Sky ceramic studio is run by me, Anelisse Boyd, and my family. My daughter helps me reclaim clay, my husband made the beautiful website, and my son makes the clay caterpillars that are not for sale because of their high value.

The studio is a culmination of my family's support and 8 years of practice. It is intentionally multifaceted to reflect different aspects of what I value; dedication to the craft and learning, loving people well, and creating products that hold meaning and purpose. We work at a slow pace, respecting the limits of clay, which needs to dry slowly. We don't take on large bulk orders, but rather, I pour my heart into creating beautiful one-of-a-kind objects.

"Where Earth Meets Sky" is the current expression of this 8 year culmination. The name came from my 8 year old's spelling list. It was the word "Horizon" that was defined as "Where Earth Meets Sky." I felt like that was the perfect way to describe the studio space and the unexplainable experiences I've had there. When I am in the studio, I feel like God is there, touching the insignificant and making it something more than just clay.

My belief that God is with me fuels my obsession with the material world. Raw things like dirt, sand, grass, and rocks are simple and not so shiny. They are humble materials that we find our origin in. Yet, these humble materials, just like myself, come alive by the touch of God. This name also felt like a perfect name for a studio that makes lighting. :)

Our first home

Before moving to France, the studio lived in the Bishop Arts District in Dallas, Texas. We turned a small space into a workshop, showroom, and teaching space. The season shaped the heart of Where Earth Meets Sky and continues to affect how I work today and our vision for the future.
